British Emma Raducanu missed out on a place in the Korea Open final because of her injury in the semi-final match, in which she was playing with Latvian Jelena Ostapenko.
Emma was trailing Latvian Jelena by 4-6 6-3 3-0, but she had to face an injury because of which she became unable to complete the match.
In the Korea Open semi-final in Seoul, Emma won the first set, but former French Open champion Ostapenko leveled in the second and edged ahead.
Last year’s US Open title holder, Emma, had won the previous three matches and had been trying to reach her first final in a regular WTA Tour.
Emma fell behind early in the first set but hit back immediately and claimed a decisive break at 4-4, and in the second set, she carried the momentum and broke again, but this time Ostapenko hit back quickly.
Emma needed a medical time-out and went out for some time, but when she returned to the game, she could not stop Ostapenko’s charge.
Emma was trailing 3-0 down from Ostapenko in deciding set, and later she had to face an injury, due to which she retired from the match.
In the Korea Open final, Ostapenko will play with Ekaterina Alexandrova, who got a 6-2 6-4 victory over Tatjana Maria.
