British Emma Raducanu entered the Korea Open semi-finals by beating Poland’s Magda Linette by 6-2 in Seoul.
It’s the third successive-straight sets win for Raducanu in the South Korean capital. She has now won three consecutive matches at a tournament for the first time, and previously she won US Open title in 2021.
To make her place in the final, she would face Andorran teenager Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva or Latvian top seed Jelena Ostapenko.
Last month Raducanu fell at the first hurdle in defense of her US Open and came on from 10th to 77th in the world rankings, but she is 1st in British.
This week, Raducanu beat Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima and Belgium’s Yanina Wickmayer and has rediscovered some of her best forms in Korea.
Raducanu made a spectacular start against Linette by breaking her twice and holding her serve on her way to a 5-1 lead. She did the first set 6-2 after 35 minutes.
In the Chennai Open final last week, Linette lost to Czech Republic teenager Linda Fruhvirtova. In this game, she immediately hit back in the second and won her opening service game.
Linette led 40-0 on Raducanu’s serve, but Raducanu saved three break points and then against her serve for the third time in the next game to edge 2-1 ahead.
Raducanu held serve and broke Linette for the fourth time in the match by a 4-1 lead, and that quickly became 5-1.
Linette extended the match by making a deuce game on serve in the next, but Raducanu won another service game to finish up the match in an hour and 16 minutes.
